Britany M. Engelman
Attorney at Law
Ms. Engelman is the Founder of Engelman Law, where she practices primarily in the areas of Personal Injury, including high profile wrongful death cases, catastrophic injury, auto accidents, premises liability, brain injury, civil rights; and Employment Litigation, including wrongful termination based on all facets of discrimination and retaliation. Prior to founding Engelman Law, Ms. Engelman worked as a Senior Associate at The Cochran Firm (the Los Angeles-based offices of late esteemed attorney, Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr.) for 5 years. Prior to joining The Cochran Firm, Ms. Engelman worked as a defense attorney—giving her the unique ability to be able to see every case from both the defense and plaintiff’s perspective.

Ms. Engelman attended USC from 1998 to 2002, where she earned Bachelors Degrees in International Relations and French. She attended law school as a John J. Schumacher scholar at Southwestern Law School. While at Southwestern, she served as the Alumni Relations Chair for the Black Law Students' Association. She was also an active member of the Entertainment & Sports Law Society.

In her career, Ms. Engelman has been the lead attorney in many jury trials, and has negotiated countless multi-million dollar settlements.

In 2022, Ms. Engelman was part of a trial team that obtained a $25 million dollar jury verdict on behalf of an educator who was wrongfully terminated by a public school district.
From 2012-2019, Ms. Engelman was selected to the Super Lawyers’ list of Southern California Rising Stars--a distinction earned by no more than 2% of California Attorneys. In 2012, she was named one of Southern California's Top Women Attorneys by Los Angeles Magazine. From 2020-2022, Ms. Engelman was selected as a Super Lawyer. In 2019 and 2021, Ms. Engelman was nominated for Trial Lawyer of the Year by Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association, Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and The Langston Bar Association. She is conversational in French and is an avid college football fan. Ms. Britany Engelman is admitted to practice in all the California state courts, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
